Overheated PC
Hey lemmings, as you may or may not know, my computer died yesterday, I got it working again around 1/2 am, but when I tried to boot it up again this morning its crashing repeatedly.
Apparently one of my fans to the CPU have stopped working and the added heat has broken something in the bios stuff. Only option is to drive it off to some repair shop and see if they can fix it, but being low on cash this could take a while, my parents might help but I'd rather not depend on them.
Either way, I'll be on less, still have my laptop so might sneak on and grind ores and herbs, but thats about it.

I've decided to go buy a laptop with some of my saved up money, and give my current laptop to my dad.
Main computer is still at the doctors though, hopefully hearing something about it this week.

Dropped it off at the local shop, should have an answer within 7-10 days, perhaps earlier cause he said it looked like a minor problem.

tbh, i know very little about the inner workings of a computer, so I wouldn't know what's cheapest Elm. Got a few nerd friends that know a bit more than me, but they're both a bit unavailable atm

Bugger - sorry to hear that.
Bugger - sorry to hear that. I once popped the motherboard on my PC - to this day I have no idea how I managed it.
oh dear sorry to hear that
oh dear sorry to hear that Joe.
Most of my computer problems are self inflicted ... like the USB socket being ripped out of a motherboard due to a drunken argument with the Mrs ... (I wasnt on it at the time .. it was just the nearest thing to her hands! LOL not really self inflicted, although my Wife would probably disagree) .. or the melted Celeron A 300 Mhz chip (I thought it would be absolutely fine and dandy to run at 550 Mhz with an incorrectly installed fan ... "eww?! what just crawled and died in your PC??!" "Oh, that will be a very expensive processor I just melted").
Nothing beats my friend's brother though, showing off with his new upgrades for his PC (he aint a nice chap - a real "know it all", to set the scene a little) ... and well he is there going on about how great his PC will be to his brother (this is school days - a long time ago) and, well, he wasnt a small chap ... and he accidentally snapped the motherboard and damaged the graphics card, because of pushing down too hard on it during installation.

One of the fans? how many cpu fans do you have?
And are you sure it isnt cheaper to buy a new cpu/motherboard than paying a repairshop for spending time finding out one or both or those are fried?
