Thanks everyone for the support, help, and especially the warm welcome back from the hacker.
Thanks to rob for informing my other guilds members to my plight and thanks to everyone for their prompt action in guild too, unfortunately the damage had already been done, but everything has now been returned, as i understand it.
For those who have never undergone it, i can tell you it is more worrying than i ever thought, not knowing if or what state your characters will be in on your return and what other info might have been gleaned from you and your computer?? esoecially when you think you have done everything right to aviod such things happening!!

Yes Elm if i was to be cynical i would totally agree with you, what better way to make people purchase athentication keys than to have your development team hack random accounts then return everything in a few days, highly suggesting that extra security measures be taken.
Whether that is the case or not i cant say, if it is then by heck it worked because i dont really want to go through that again, and i dont want to put my friends and guilds through that trouble either.

So to sum up, thank you all for your help and for the warm welcome on my return also, i am very glad to be back.

Gnome, when you chat to the GM, they'll mention the authenticator, and if you say you'll get one, they give you the cute puppy straight away \o/

Not that I'm unfocused on the key issue, but that core hound is by far the cutest pet in-game (IMHO).

message from blizz, they concluded i was hacked by trojan/keylogger/virus (take your pick), but the good news is that the slime is flowing again!!
no really the good news is that they have reset my account, so once ive finished all the installations and updates i should be able to get back in again.
message says a GM will contact me ingame re stolen/deleted items so hopefully anything taken will be returned.
I will deff be purchasing an authenticator key tho, once my new card arrives, as i cancelled everything just to be on the safe side.

I can second what Wilgje says, they usually will reimburse the items from the bank, and your own bank too.

Sorry to hear this Gnome, hope all is sorted soon for you, you really do need an Authenticator these days, even if your pc is only accessed by you, outside programs (key loggers etc) pass your details on to others without you even knowing it

there not completely foolproof, but 100% better than not having one i think.

had an email from blizz, my account is under 72 hour suspension for exploitative activity-abuse of the economy. I also had 2 messages from them, one to say my password was changed then another that they had reset it, then the investigation.
So in all likelyhood i was hacked for a short time.

No Matzy i dont have an authenticator, im the only one who uses this computer and this is the only computer i play from so didnt think i needed one, obviously it could be a wise investment tho.
So hopefully whoever did it didnt do too much damage and i hope to be back with you in a few days.

lets hope it was in time, but tbh I hear Blizzard are good at refunding lost items anyway.

I know the guild leader of the guild his alts are in, and have sent word over to get the alts demoted for there guild bank safety. And its one of his/my good friends guilds which Pete has alts in so he can chat with them.

I've checked the guildbank and Gnome has made lots of withdrawels 9 hours ago

It looks indeed like his account has been hacked

I have removed Gnomesick & Kodiac from the guild.

I hope nothing's wrong, Gnome But I'll get online and see if safety measures are needed.
