A rank is gone.. long live the new rank!
All of you who were online this wednesday have probably already noticed: the counsellor rank is no more. We have decided to make the counsellors High Lemmings, and have the guildies depend on eachother for game advice and input. If you don't know who to ask, ask an officer! We'll know who to point you towards
In the meantime I would just like to thank Daz, Elm, and Alwyn, "last of the counsellors", for being such faithful helpful lemmings. They have rejoined the ranks of the High Lemmings now, which will remain the honorary rank for Lemmings
The rank that is freed up in the guild will become a new rank - something for guildies who have been with us for a year or longer. We have always added the join dates of people in their officernote, so now we'll be able to promote people and give them that little extra recognition in-game! If you'd like to know your join date, poke an officer or High Lemming
I hope to promote the veteran lemmings on thursday evening, and I'll add a comment to this post with grats to the peeps
The reasons for this are:
1) the current mix of Counsellor responsibilities requires that are a very experienced player of your class and are a senior member of the guild as well. However in our guild experience with the game and seniority within the guild is divided very unevenly over the various classes. This leads to a situation where you have either:
- some classes without Counsellor, because there no suitable candidates within that class, while at the same time you have classes where several players could have been Counsellor
- Counsellors for each class, but you get first-class Counsellors and second-class Counsellors. The second-class Counsellors are only Counsellor because they were the least unsuitable candidate in that class.
2) I don't think we actually really need a 'class leader' role. I would not tie the advisory role for gear requirements and helping out guildies within your class to a single person, but view this as something which is a shared responsibility between the most senior members of a certain class, which in practice for most classes will gravitate towards those players who are either Officer or very senior members of the guild (currently Counsellor). Also, because loads have players have several characters now, a lot of the knowledge about certain classes often is not within your own class, but with players who currently play other classes.

I'm a little confused. Is High Lemming now a veteran status or is Veteran a new rank.
Plus if the latter is correct is a High Lemming or a Veteran a higher rank?
